Boosting Your SPRS Score: Key Steps to Strengthen Cybersecurity Compliance and Win Contracts

In the last blog we walked through the process of posting your SPRS score. But before you can post it you need to accurately determine what it is. You'll need to conduct a third party or self-assessment against the 110 security controls and 320 objectives outlined in NIST SP 800-171A. This involves evaluating your current cybersecurity practices and assigning a score based on your level of compliance for each objective. SPRS scores range from -203 to 110.

The ultimate target is 110. While the industry is waiting for full CMMC implementation most prime contractors have set their own SPRS score requirement. Aiming for a score above 88 demonstrates a strong security posture and improves your chances of winning contracts. Here are some actionable steps to improve your SPRS score:

Conduct a thorough security gap assessment: Identify weaknesses in your current cybersecurity maturity posture.

Implement a comprehensive security program: This includes access controls, data encryption, risk assessment, incident response plans, and employee training.

Seek professional support: Cybersecurity consultants can assist with assessments, compliance strategies, and documentation. Here at Axiotrop, we can help you meet your SPRS score goals and get compliant with CMMC.
