In Summer 2023, we surveyed about 30 trade and transportation executives regarding cybersecurity. Here’s what they told us:
Just over 20% said they’d experienced a cybersecurity attack with 2 of 3 being mid-market companies.
Takeaway: 1 in 5 is worrisome particularly for mid-market companies with their valuable data and limited resources to thwart an attack.
Most companies exercise strong protections such as multi-factor authentication and strong password policies. However, fewer conduct frequent systems testing and only half require third party vendor cybersecurity assessments.
Takeaway: as our recent blog noted, hackers exploitation of 3rd party vendor systems to breach companies is growing.
Executives want to be more cybersecurity-literate; here are their top 3 topics:
Recommended strategies and procedures for keeping information systems secure.
Reviewing current threats to the trade and transportation industry.
Breaking down the CTPAT cybersecurity minimum security criteria.
Takeaway: executives should set aside time, at least monthly to increase their cybersecurity knowledge base.
With growing risks of a breach, mid-sized and smaller companies should seek help from outside cybersecurity experts, such as Axiotrop to identify and address vulnerabilities. To learn more, visit axiotrop.com or schedule a 15 minute call.
